Dr. John Yadegar is passionate about the advantages of weight-loss surgery and the life-changing benefits and transformation that it offers his patients. In the words of Dr. Yadegar, “Good health is everything.”
The mission of the weight-loss-surgery program is to deliver comprehensive patient-focused and hands-on holistic care, with safety and excellent outcome as its core values. In its 15 years of service, the program has delivered the highest standard of care with the lowest complication rates to more than 3,000 patients from all around the world, including USA, Europe, Asia, India, and Africa.
Dr. John Yadegar is the Medical Director of The So Cal Weight Loss Institute in Los Angeles, The Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery program at Palmdale Regional Medical Center (PRMC since 2005), and The Community Surgery Center of Glendale.
He has been the Chief of Surgery at PRMC since 2014.
The program is the recipient of numerous awards, such as Center of Excellence (COE) thru ASMBS/ACS with an exemplary status, Blue Cross/Blue Shield COE, Cigna and Aetna COE, and Kaiser award. The program has been granted 5 stars numerous times by Healthgrades, a national ranking body, and is recognized as the Top 10% Program in the country. Dr. Yadegar was awarded the Laparoscopic SLS surgical resident award in 2004, the patient choice award in 2011, and The USA Top Surgeon award in 2012.
Dr. Yadegar specializes in state-of-the-art laparoscopic bariatric surgery, performing the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, LAP-BAND ® adjustable gastric band, and the Sleeve Gastrectomy. Additionally, he offers minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgeries including gallbladder and hernia surgeries.
Dr. Yadegar completed his medical training in renowned British institutions, including University College-London, Guys Hospital, and the Royal National Orthopedic Institute in London, with further education and training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with fellowship at The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He subsequently traveled to the United States in 1999, where he completed his US surgical residency at UCLA and New York Medical College-Danbury Hospital/YALE Program in Connecticut. Dr. Yadegar completed his fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at UCLA Medical Center in 2004, where he also served as the Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Yadegar has been a member of the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, New York Surgical Society, SAGES, and the Society of the Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, and he has also published numerous articles in Bariatric journals.
The weight-loss surgery program continues to work with the community at large and with various employment entities, such as school districts and the aerospace industry. The program aims to educate the community about the hazards of obesity and the processes necessary to defeat it, including surgery, where one can alleviate most of the related medical conditions.
Dr. Yadegar enjoys spending quality time with his family, including his wife and two children. He supports numerous charities and takes part in a number of social activities, such as traveling.
